Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez issues rare clap back at recent report

One comment about lacking physicality was enough to get New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez to respond on social media.

The response came after the Boston Sports Journal's Greg Bedard read an excerpt from a recent cornerback ranking on ESPN.com. It was a ranking compiled from NFL executives, coaches and scouts. Gonzalez ranked third on the list behind Patrick Surtain II and Derek Stingley Jr.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there were some scouts and coaches who believe Gonzalez is "not physical enough." Bedard read through Fowler's quote from the article during a recent episode of the Greg Bedard Patriots Podcast and mentioned that he had heard similar things from the Patriots' side.
"I would say you could include some people with the Patriots also thinking that," Bedard said.
On Friday, Gonzalez took his opportunity to clap back directly on X. It didn't take the post long to blow up on social media.
"got sum new to say abt me everyday lol," Gonzalez posted.

Gonzalez is currently in the middle of contract negotiations with the Patriots on a possible extension. The team has already picked up the fifth-year option on his deal, which runs through the 2027 season.
However, there are no indications that the Patriots are any closer to agreeing on a long-term extension for the elite corner to remain in New England.
