The French Football Federation (FFF) plans to take legal action against Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla de Boccia after her racist insults directed at France national team star Kylian Mbappé.

Amarilla de Boccia's remarks were "despicable and unacceptable," the FFF said in a statement on Monday, adding that it plans to file a complaint with the public prosecutor's office.

"I assure our captain, the players, and, more broadly, all victims of such despicable remarks of my full support," FFF president Philippe Diallo wrote on X. He called the remarks "criminal" and "reprehensible."

French President Emmanuel Macron also reacted to the senator's remarks, saying on X: "Another goal for Kylian Mbappé. This time against racism. I fully support him. When words hurt, our values send a message: dignity, respect, and brotherhood."

France beat Paraguay in a heated World Cup round-of-16 match on Saturday in Philadelphia, with Mbappé scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot.

Over a post about the France forward, Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla de Boccia wrote on X: "Bruto didn't even learn to write. Instead of his mother's milk he sucked coconuts and the most educated thing he ever heard were chimpanzees."

Among other things, the politician called Mbappé a "colonized Cameroonian" who pretends to be a tough Frenchman, "full of inferiority complexes, nouveau riche (new rich), arrogant, and ugly."

Over a photo of the senator, Mbappé responded on X: "You are a contemptible woman and unworthy of your office. You do not represent Paraguay.

"Through your ignorance and your shameless racism, the world has already forgotten the historic journey and the commitment of your players during this World Cup to make room for an incompetent woman who conveys the worst possible image of her country."

He added that he would "never give people like her the freedom to spread their hatred and their racism in the world."
