Erika, 37, was joined by Charlie Kirk’s parents in court on Monday, the beginning of a week-long preliminary hearing in Utah that will preview much of the prosecutions evidence against Tyler Robinson, 23, who stands accused of shooting Charlie at a speech at Utah Valley University last September.
The preliminary hearing determines whether prosecutors have a strong enough case against Robinson to try him for aggravated murder.
Donald Trump Jr. was also in the courtroom in support of the Kirks. At the hearing’s start, the judge said the subject matter would be emotional but urged those attending to stay composed and not create distractions.
Before the hearing began, Charlie Kirk’s family released a statement on social media platform X:
“Charlie was a beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and father. Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children,” it said. “We remain deeply grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness we have received. This outpouring has sustained us during the darkest days of our lives.”
Wife forgave alleged killer
During Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, Erika said she forgave her husband’s killer.
“My husband, Charlie, he wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life,” she said in September. “Our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they not know what they do.’ That young man … I forgive him. I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and it’s what Charlie would do.”

Charlie Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA , an advocacy group that focuses on conservative and family-minded politics among American youth. He was often the target of liberal and hard-left activist vitriol, and was famous for out-debating students supporting such views.
