The Los Angeles Lakers have made some very impressive moves over the past 24 hours, though there's still a feeling that more can be done. The Lakers don't have any more tradable first-round picks, but they do have other ways to improve on both sides of the basketball court. The question for the Lakers now is whether they're willing to move on from other players to get better on the margins.

There are multiple players around the league who could be a great fit in Los Angeles, including a wing defender in Lu Dort.
The Lakers are obviously trying to improve on the defensive side of the basketball; at least that's what their moves in the early stages of the offseason have indicated, so landing a player of Dort's caliber wouldn't be the craziest thing to suggest. That's part of the reason why the latest trade proposal would make a whole lot of sense for Los Angeles.
“I think if you’re the Lakers, you want to be front and center on some of those guys. Lu Dort is the guy who could just come in and change your entire perimeter defense. He’s a must-have if they can get him. That’s been a problem for them for so long. But if you have Luka (Doncic) you need 3-and-D guys and he’s on another level,” a Western Conference executive said, per Sean Deveney.
Dort is a tough player to evaluate in the sense that he's good but not great.
He gets some more love than he might deserve at times because of playing with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Thunder, arguably the best team in the NBA despite losing in the Western Conference Finals a year ago, made moves this offseason to ensure their future is as bright as expected. For that to happen, they had to shed some salary, so it's not crazy to think that Dort could be another player who ends up being one of the odd men out.
