When Might Toronto Blue Jays Have Addison Barger Back in Lineup?
· Yahoo Sports
Speaking before Friday night's series-opening game in Seattle, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided an update on multiple players, including slugging outfielder Addison Barger.
As relayed by Hazel Mae of Sportsnet, Barger is still rehabbing his throwing elbow until the All-Star break. Therefore, his timeline remains up in the air.

George Springer is on paternity leave and Max Scherzer felt good after throwing three innings in a rehab start for High-A Vancouver. We covered Scherzer's future, which is also up in the air, here. He's been on the injured list multiple times with forearm and back issues.

Thus far, this has been a lost year for Barger, who entered the season with much expectation and promise. The 26-year-old Washington native has played in just nine games, going 1-for-22 (.045) with a double and two RBIs.
He's missed significant time with bilateral ankle discomfort and is on the injured list now with that elbow inflammation.
A breakout star of last year's playoff run, Barger hit 21 homers and drove in 74 runs. He hit .367 in the playoffs with three homers, nine RBIs and a .441 on-base percentage. The Blue Jays beat these same Mariners in seven games in the American League Championship Series.
He was a force in the lineup as the Jays got to the World Series, losing in seven games to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Mariners are 45-43 which is tied for first place in the American League West, though it's been a frustrating and injury-plagued season for them as well.
We took a look at the full pitching matchups for the series here, but the Blue Jays will avoid M's star Julio Rodriguez, who was placed on the 7-day injured list as part of concussion protocol. He was injured in Thursday's win against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Blue Jays are coming off an off day.
Also in the news for TorontoSigned to a four-year deal out of Japan this winter, 30-year-old Kazuma Okamoto is hitting .240 with 19 homers and 54 RBIs. He's flashed power for a lineup that has needed it in the wake of Vladimir Guerrero's power outage, Bo Bichette's departure and injuries to Barger and Anthony Santander.
He had seven home runs in the month of June, which helped earn him the American League Rookie of the Month. He hit .286 with 20 RBIs and a .913 OPS as well.
