Clinton County Mariners induct 5 to Hall of Fame

PLATTSBURGH — Five individuals with deep ties to Clinton County American Legion Baseball have been selected for induction into the Clinton County Mariners Hall of Fame.
The Mariners Hall of Fame was established in 2012 and has recognized dozens of players, coaches, administrators and contributors who have helped shape American Legion Baseball in Clinton County.

Former players Mitch Tarr, Mike Bordeau, Billy Davis and Patrick Shaughnessy, along with longtime administrator Harold LeClaire, will be honored during the hall of fame induction ceremony Aug. 6 at the West Plattsburgh American Legion.
MITCH TARR
Tarr played for Plattsburgh Post 20 in 1974 and 1975 after helping Plattsburgh High School win the 1975 Section VII Class A championship.
He continued his career at the University of Maine, where the Black Bears reached the 1976 College World Series.
MIKE BORDEAU
Bordeau played for Plattsburgh Post 20 in 1990 and 1991, helping the team capture the 1990 District IV championship.
At Plattsburgh High School, he was a member of the 1989 NYSPHSAA Class B state championship team and the 1991 Section VII Class B champions.
He later served as president of Plattsburgh Little League.
BILLY DAVIS
Davis played for the Mariners from 2003-06 after helping Plattsburgh High School win the 2005 Section VII Class B title.
At Plattsburgh State, he earned All-SUNYAC honors at third base in 2008 and remains the program’s career leader in games pitched and saves.
He was named Academic All-District in 2009 and earned SUNYAC All-Academic honors from 2006-09 before playing professionally with the Coastal Kingfish of the Continental Baseball League and the New York Federals of the Can-Am League.
PATRICK SHAUGHNESSY
Shaughnessy played for the Mariners from 2006-09 before starring at Plattsburgh State.
He earned All-SUNYAC honors in 2010, 2011 and 2012; All-ECAC honors in 2010; and All-New York Region honors in 2010.
He received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award in 2009-10, was a four-time SUNYAC All-Academic selection and earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in 2013.
He also competed in men’s soccer for the Cardinals from 2008-11.
HARLOLD LECLAIRE
LeClaire has been a longtime supporter of American Legion Baseball in Clinton County, serving as an assistant coach and general manager for the Mariners and commissioner of the Champlain Valley Baseball League.
