Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri revealed the deal is worth R56 milllion.
The announcement ends days of speculation after the 21-year-old remained in Belgium following Bafana Bafana’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he travelled to complete the final stages of the transfer.
EUROPEAN DREAM BECOMES REALITY
The Belgian side has now announced Mofokeng’s arrival with the message: “President Yama 2000 has arrived,” confirming the winger has signed a four-year contract until the middle of 2030, with an option to extend the deal by a further year.
The move caps off a remarkable 12 months for the gifted attacker.
Mofokeng helped Orlando Pirates win the Betway Premiership title before representing South Africa at the FIFA World Cup, where he started two matches, including the Round of 32 defeat to Canada. During the tournament, he also came up against his new teammate Promise David.
RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG: ‘IT’S A DREAM’
Speaking after completing the move, Mofokeng admitted joining a European club had always been one of his biggest ambitions.
“I’m very happy to be here. It’s a dream to play in Europe and to begin our Champions League qualifying campaign soon,” he said.
“The past year has been very special, with the league title, my first FIFA World Cup with South Africa and now this important step in my career. I hope to continue developing as a player here. Together with the team, we’ll do everything we can to compete for trophies.”
The transfer also continues Orlando Pirates’ growing reputation for producing players capable of making the jump to Europe. Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi have also secured overseas moves in the past year, with Mofokeng now becoming the latest Buccaneer to take his talent onto the European stage.
