After a hard-fought spring season, it's time to look back and recognize those that made the greatest impact on their team.

From top returners to young players making a mark, these athletes proved themselves as the best of the Gardner area.

Check out the nominees for Tennis Player of the Year and vote for who you think deserves the honor.

Reader votes will make up 25% of the tally, with Sports Reporter Cait Kemp making up the rest of the vote.

Emily Hamel, Monty Tech

Hamel was a strong competitor for the Bulldogs. The senior was 7-9 in matches and led as a captain.

Maria Hamm and Addison Surprenant, Quabbin

The Quabbin second doubles duo was so good together they are nominated as a pair for Player of the Year. Hamm, an eighth-grader, and Surprenant, a freshman, were a force to be reckoned with. They won 11 matches together, proving to be an important part of Quabbin's league-winning season.

Maggie Clark, Gardner

Clark had four singles win this season, all of which were in a row, as a freshman helping to lead the Wildcats.

Sophia Maillet, Monty Tech

Maillet was a senior captain for the Bulldogs this season. She had a strong season, finishing 6-3 in her matches.

Madilyn Tata, Monty Tech

The sophomore won 171 games, 23 sets and was 10-5 in matches this season. She showed leadership through her sportsmanship toward opponents throughout the season.

Farrah Wojcik, Quabbin

Wojcik was a force for Quabbin and its league-winning season. The senior captain went 13-3 to lead the Panthers to the Mid-Wach C league title and an appearance in the D3 state tournament as the 30 seed.
