· Yahoo Sports
Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix (26) is expected to complete a €55m move to Chelsea, according to L’Equipe. The former FC Sochaux youth product is set to start tonight for France’s final World Cup group stage game against Norway, filling in for Arsenal’s William Saliba. After the World Cup, Lacroix will embark on the next step of his career, still in London, but no longer at Crystal Palace.
L’Equipe understands that Lacroix is now very likely to commit to Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea, whose outlay for the France international centre-back could rise to €55m. Previously, Chelsea opened talks to sign the player they identified as their primary target at centre-back.
