Andrew Wiggins is a three-and-D asset that has been on the Los Angeles Lakers’ radar for months.

Los Angeles whiffed on the former Golden State Warriors All-Star before the Feb. 5 deadline, but continues to be linked to him as the offseason kicks off.

Some believe that the Miami Heat could make the former No. 1 overall pick available in trade talks after trading Tyler Herro, Kel-el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap, and one second-round pick to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

While The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer and Marc Stein noted that the Heat may not be done making moves after sending a significant haul of assets to Milwaukee in a blockbuster early-week deal, he didn’t name Wiggins as a contributor they’re likely to move this summer (which doesn’t bode well for the Lakers).

“Trading away Jaquez and Jakucionis in addition to Herro and Ware heightens the need for Miami to find a way to hold onto unrestricted free agent-to-be Norman Powell,” Fischer and Stein wrote Tuesday. “Which will be complicated.”

Based on Fischer and Stein’s report, it doesn’t seem as though Wiggins is in their trade plans going forward, which will make it even more challenging for the Lakers to lure him from South Beach to Los Angeles anytime soon.

First things first, Wiggins, who averaged 15.4 points per game on 47.5% shooting from the field and 35.0% shooting from three in a diminished role with the Heat this past season, would have to opt into his $30.1 million player option to be viewed as a possible trade candidate.

Even if the NBA champion does, though, the Lakers shouldn’t feel confident about their chances of landing him in a blockbuster deal.
