“The Point God” signed a one-year, $11 million deal with the Spurs in 2024. However, Paul agreed to terms to return to the Los Angeles Clippers the following year for the final season of his career. San Antonio reached the Finals this past season but lost to the New York Knicks in five games.

““I believe if they had Chris Paul on this roster, they would’ve won the finals,” Thomas said on the “Point Game Pod.” “His experience and who he is would’ve helped De’Aaron Fox, (Stephon) Castle, (Dylan) Harper.”

The 37-year-old received backlash from fans for his take.

“Are we sure? Because okc would’ve picked on cp3 on defense,” one fan said.

“The thing is if you have Chris Paul on your roster you’re actually guaranteed to not win a ring,” a reaction read.

“I don’t think Thomas watched Knicks-Spur games over the years. It didn’t work out; he’s not in a Spurs jersey for a reason,” one user wrote.

“The hypotheticals are hilarious,” posted another.

“Coulda woulda shoulda. Knicks in 5,” a comment read.

“I doubt it. But the crazy we willl never know now will we?” another fan commented.
