Colorado loses 2027 RB commit Steven Alexis to Big Ten program
· Yahoo Sports
After committing to the Colorado Buffaloes nine days ago, three-star running back Steven Alexis is decommitting from the program.
He announced on Tuesday that he is officially committed to the Illinois Fighting Illini. Alexis originally chose the Buffaloes over Pittsburgh, Illinois, Iowa and others. The St. Petersburg, Florida, native visited Colorado on June 5 but seems to have committed before making a full decision.

247Sports Composite ranks Alexis as the No. 1166 overall prospect, the No. 87 running back and the No. 117 player from the state of Florida.
During the 2025 season, Alexis rushed for 1,113 yards and nine touchdowns on 124 attempts. He also racked up eight receptions for 50 yards.

Alexis was Colorado's only running back committed to the 2027 class. Still, Deion Sanders' staff is hot on the tail of three-star Kylan Bobo and even owns a Crystal Ball prediction for the Mississippi native. Bobo is scheduled to announce his commitment on July 1.
The decommitment brings CU's 2027 class to No. 38 nationally and No. 5 in the Big 12 Conference. Colorado is down to 16 commitments, but that number is likely to increase in the coming weeks.
