PWHL Detroit announced Sunday it has signed forward Shiann Darkangelo, a Brighton native and Brighton High School graduate, to a two-year standard player agreement ahead of this week's draft in Detroit. She's the eighth player to be signed to the roster.

Darkangelo, 32, has played in the league since its launch in 2024, including the 2025-26 season with Montreal Victoire, with whom she won a Walter Cup championship. She had eight points (four goals) in 30 regular-season games, including an assistant in a 3-1 victory over New York at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on March 28, and led the team in faceoff wins (213). She had one goal in the postseason.

Darkangelo, who grew up playing in the Little Caesars youth hockey program, played in the first-ever PWHL game at Little Caesars Arena, for Boston on March 16, 2024. She played the 2024-25 season with Ottawa, and that was her best offensive season, with 17 points (eight goals).

For her Professional Women's Hockey League career, she has 26 points (12 goals) in 83 regular-season games.

Darkangelo, after high school, played in college at Syracuse and Quinnipiac. She won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship.
