Securing elite safety would make up for recent recruiting loss by FSU

Losing 2027 four-star safety Mekhi Williams was a big blow for the Florida State Seminoles. Although he hasn't closed the door on the Seminoles, they need another blue-chip player at the position.

FSU landed four-star safety Jernard Albright last weekend, but he's being recruited as a linebacker. They have a top-tier option currently on campus for an official visit, and it's four-star recruit Ta'Shawn Poole out of Macon, Georgia. This is his third trip to Tallahassee since his offer from Florida State last August, and it's his second visit this year.
At the moment, Poole has FSU at the top of his recruitment along with the Tennessee Volunteers. It's a very tight race as Poole gets set to make a decision soon. Plus, he has an official visit with the Miami Hurricanes next weekend. They have some ground to make up, but with their recruiting success as of late, they can't be taken lightly either.
This makes Florida State's final approach immensely important. They need to not only make Poole feel wanted, but the goal should be to make it to where he doesn't even take his official visit to Miami next week.
One important factor for Poole when it comes to FSU is the future of the current staff. It was something that he discussed with head coach Mike Norvell during the spring, and he got the confirmation that he was looking for.
"I asked about how long he's staying there. He told me that he talked to the president, that he has a good deal with him. I trust him. If I were to commit right now, I'd be able to play early…to help bring Florida State back," Poole told Noles247 last month.
Feeling that he could come in and contribute right away is another thing that's on Florida State's side when it comes to Poole. It's all right in front of them to possibly close his recruitment, but they have to put their best foot forward.
Poole is the No. 64 player nationally and the nation's No. 5 safety per 247Sports composite rankings. In the state of Georgia, he's the No. 5 prospect.
FSU is also looking to close four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune, who is currently visiting as well, and he has them as his top school.
