The Wisconsin Badgers have positioned themselves quite well in the 2027 recruiting class heading into the summer. They got a commitment from high-priority four-star guard Jalen Brown last week, giving them their highest-rated guard commit in the rankings era.

Brown, a top-70 recruit in the 2027 class, is a special talent at 6’5, 180 pounds, and is considered the No. 3 player in the state of Wisconsin. He’s long been a target for Greg Gard, and the Wauwatosa West standout made things official last week.

Wisconsin is also trending well for top-60 recruit Baboucarr Ann, a forward from Minnesota. Ann is considered the No. 2 player in the state of Minnesota, where the Badgers have trended quite well in recent years. But, he’s not the only target from Minnesota that has appeared on the radar.

The Badgers brought in 7’1 center Jack Thelen for an unofficial visit last month and ultimately offered him a scholarship this Wednesday. The offer was Thelen’s fourth, following Miami (OH), Murray State, and Montana.

Could he be the latest big man recruit that Wisconsin has landed out of Minnesota? The Badgers have seen some strong success from the state in recent years, notably with Tyler Wahl and Steven Crowl, who became multi-year starters at Wisconsin.

Thelen seems like a player who would need some development, but at 7’1, 240 pounds, he’d provide a unique build for the future for Wisconsin.
