They'd still be called the Chicago Bears even if they eventually move to Indiana.

The "Hammond Bears" doesn't quite have the same historical significance to it.

The move is far from complete, but the latest developments sure have people thinking about it.

And as the team from Chicago considers playing somewhere else while still being called the team from Chicago, it's worth noting that in the modern NFL, this wouldn't be weird.

NFL teams that don't play in their city

There's actually a double example of teams that don't even play in the state they're named after.

The New York Giants and New York Jets both play in New Jersey.

Then you've got plenty of mismatched city and stadium combinations.

The Dallas Cowboys play in Arlington.

The San Francisco 49ers play in Santa Clara.

There are ones on a smaller scale, too, like the Buffalo Bills technically playing in Orchard Park or the Miami Dolphins playing in Miami Gardens (about 15 miles from Miami).

So the Chicago Bears playing in Hammond, Indiana instead of Chicago, Illinois, isn't quite as crazy as it sounds.
