West Indies secured a comfortable eight-wicket victory against Ireland in the opening match of the Tri-Nation series at Clontarf Cricket Club.

Batting first, Ireland struggled early on and were reduced to 23 for three during the powerplay.

Captain Orla Prendergast, leading the side in the absence of Gaby Lewis, top scored with 25 and combined for a 44-run partnership with Leah Paul.

However, the home side were eventually bowled out for 103 in 17 overs.

West Indies also lost early wickets with Ava Canning dismissing Deandra Dottin and Qiana Joseph.

Captain Hayley Matthews then guided her side to the victory and registered an unbeaten 82 runs from 44 balls to take West Indies to their 104 target with more than eight overs to spare.
