New LB believes Arizona Cardinals can have big turnaround

· Yahoo Sports

The Arizona Cardinals made a few understated moves in free agency, especially on defense. One such addition of linebacker Jack Gibbens, who played previously for the New England Patriots.

Most expect the Cardinals to struggle in 2026. They have the lowest projected win total in the league. They have the shortest odds to have the fewest wins in the NFL.

But Gibbens has seen a team turn around. The Patriots went 4-13 in 2024. He joined them last season and they went 14-3 and made it to the Super Bowl, so he sees the potential of what the Cardinals can do.

"The margins in this league are so small, and so it comes down to the little minute details of execution," Gibbens said in an interview with Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. "Then, it's about having that camaraderie and playing for each other and truly believing in the team that we're going to get this done.  Anyone can win any Sunday, everyone's good and anyone can make it happen."

He noted the turnaround for his Patriots. It comes down to "creating an identity and then playing to that identity and believing in the guys next to you.

"I think that there's no reason we can't do that here."

While that is the approach players must take, the Cardinals are vastly different than the Patriots. The Patriots had a young star quarterback and an established, successful head coach.

The Cardinals have a rookie head coach and, at quarterback, two journeymen and a third-round rookie. Chances are they won't have the same turnaround, but it's that sort of belief the players need in the offseason.
