Exeter's Will Tobin, Owen Wagner and Garrett White, Winnacunnet's Anthony Magri and Sullivan Duffy, Dover's Connor Lazarz and St. Thomas Aquinas' Cole Masiello were all recognized before a capacity crowd at the Grappone Conference Center.
"These young men have distinguished themselves in the classroom, on the field of play, as leaders both on and off the field," said Jay Fallon, the president of the Joe Yukica/New Hampshire Chapter of the National Football Foundation. "All are a credit to their families, their schools, their communities and themselves."
Exeter High School head coach Bill Ball said Tobin, White and Wagner all uphold the example of being a student-athlete.
"They all really do a good job in the classroom, and that carries over onto the playing field," Ball said. "They all represent Exeter High School, and our football team extremely well."
Winnacunnet head football coach Ryan Francoeur said receiving a Yukica Scholar/Athlete award is the "most prestigious given out to football seniors in New Hampshire."
"I congratulate all 38 deserving recipients this year," Francoeur said. "(Duffy and Magri) were so deserving of this recognition. They are both fierce competitors, great teammates, and hold themselves to the highest of standards as athletes, students and most importantly people."
Both Duffy and Magri will continue their football careers in college; Duffy at the University of New Hampshire and Magri at Plymouth State.
"Both (schools) will be getting two great Warriors next season," Francoeur said. "Our staff is proud of them, and grateful to have had the opportunity to be their coaches."
Masiello, a Rye resident, will continue his academic and football careers next year at Middlebury College.
"This was a well-deserved award for all the hard work on the field and in the classroom that Cole has put in during his four years at St. Thomas," St. Thomas head coach Scott Bray said. "On the field he was the anchor that held things together and made all those around him better. In the classroom he held himself to high standards we allowed him to achieve academic success. We are so proud of him and wish him the best as he continues his academic and athletic careers."
