I find it very hard to believe that the Chicago Bears will enter next season feeling rather confident with their edge-rushing room.

While the Bears have attempted to make some moves during the offseason to improve the unit, it's still far from where it needs to be.
In fact, I'd even go as far as to say that the Bears won't be the team they're looking to be if they don't improve on that side of the football as soon as possible. It's the unfortunate reality of the current state of the NFL, especially in the NFC North.
There's a reason why many view it as the best division in the NFL, at least from top to bottom.
Searching for ways to fix that, Bleacher Report recently proposed an intriguing idea for the Bears to improve on that side of the football by trading for Josh Sweat. Reports have now indicated that the Arizona Cardinals have received calls on the 29-year-old defensive end.
“The Chicago Bears won the NFC North this past season despite having a defense that produced just 35 sacks as a unit. They have done little to upgrade their pass rush this offseason, though not due to a lack of effort… We know that the Ravens ultimately voided the trade they had in place with Las Vegas and pivoted to Trey Hendrickson in free agency. We also know that the Bears still need a high-end complement to Montez Sweat on the edge,” Kristopher Knox of BR wrote.
Last season, Sweat was just as good as ever in terms of sack numbers, posting the most throughout his career with 12.0.
In prior seasons, he typically lived around that 7.5 to 11 mark, which is exactly what the Bears need right now. Most fans want Maxx Crosby or Myles Garrett, but the chances of getting one of those two guys right now are very unlikely, so Sweat would have to be a decent consolation prize.
