Like most people, Amber Laudermilk has no time for sex offenders.
But the Texas mortuary embalmer took matters one step further.
She allegedly mutilated the corpse of the deceased Charles Roy Rodriguez, 58, a registered sex offender who lived on the outskirts of Houston. He died of natural causes.
Placed member in mouth
As alleged in a court complaint, a “provisional embalmer” told detectives that she saw Laudermilk “stab decedent Rodriguez twice with a scalpel in the groin and then cut off his penis and place it in the decedent’s mouth.”
Laudermilk allegedly told the witness: “You didn’t see anything.”
But the witness did indeed see everything. One funeral director revealed she saw Laudermilk “fondling the mouth of the decedent,” noting “the decedent’s penis was in his mouth.”
Now, according to The Smoking Gun citing court records, the criminal case has been dropped against the penis pulverizer. The felony charge against Laudermilk was kicked to the curb earlier this month in Harris County District Court.
A judge reportedly granted a dismissal motion filed by prosecutors who noted that an “alternative resolution agreement” had been struck with Laudermilk.
Prosecutors offered up a terse explanation of the agreement: “EXPLANATION: Defendant completed a class for dismissal.”
‘Treated with dignity in death’
However, the dismissal of the complaint and the “class” are not expounded on in the court records. But the incident has not been without penalty for the scalpel-wielding avenger.
The Texas Funeral Service Commission records reveal that Laudermilk’s embalmer’s license — suspended following her March arrest — expired at the same time the abuse of corpse charge was dismissed.
Laudermilk’s macabre handiwork occurred shortly after Memorial Mortuary & Crematory workers learned of Rodriguez’s criminal history.
At the time of her 2025 arrest, cops attempted to take the high road.
‘She was angry’
“No matter what one thinks of his life, the law requires that he be treated with dignity in death,” Precinct One Const. Alan Rosen said.
“This case is about two troubled people: the victim who was a registered sex offender and the defendant, who is accused of viciously attacking his dead body.”
The cop added: “I don’t know the suspect’s past, but we have the utmost empathy for anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault or is the family or friend of someone who has been the victim of a sexual assault.
“The facts clearly indicate she was angry, and I hope after this is resolved in the courts, she gets the help she needs.”
