Naledi Pandor’s Pretoria home robbed during break-In

Former International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor reportedly had her house broken into during a robbery at her residence in Villieria, Pretoria, on Friday, 22 May 2026.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Gauteng confirmed that authorities are investigating the robbery after three suspects allegedly entered the property and held occupants at gunpoint before ransacking the home.

Pandor and her husband were inside the house during the terrifying incident. The suspects allegedly searched through the residence before fleeing with several valuable items.

Police reported that the suspects stole televisions, a laptop, mobile phones, and the family’s Toyota Cross vehicle, which authorities later recovered in Mamelodi East. Thankfully, the robbery did not injure anyone.

NALEDI PANDOR’S HOME TARGETED IN PRETORIA

According to reports, the suspects allegedly held the Naledi and her husband at gunpoint while they carried out the robbery.

According to IOL, Police spokesperson Brig Athlenda Mathe said police were actively working to trace and apprehend those responsible for the robbery.

“The district police commissioner of Tshwane, Maj-Gen Samuel Thine, will visit the family to provide an update on the progress of investigations as well as ongoing policing interventions aimed at combating housebreaking and property-related crimes,” said Mathe.

Lieutenant General Dimpane emphasised that while police statistics between January and March recorded a decrease in housebreaking incidents nationally, such incidents remain a priority for the SAPS and will continue to receive focused attention.

NALEDI PANDOR AND SAPS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

SAPS officials continue their investigation as authorities search for the suspects involved in the robbery. Police have not yet confirmed any arrests in connection with the robbery.

The robbery shocked many South Africans, especially because Pandor remains one of the country’s respected political figures. Many people also expressed concern after learning that the suspects allegedly entered the home while the family was present inside the residence.

Earlier this year, in April 2026, Naledi Pandor was officially appointed as Chancellor of Nelson Mandela University. The university officially installed her during a ceremony held on Wednesday, 8 April 2026. Her appointment marked another milestone in her long career in public service, education, and leadership.
