Breakfast is widely known as "the most important meal of the day." According to Caitlin Clark, the NCAA begged to differ at the 2021 Women's NCAA Tournament.
While appearing on a podcast episode of Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston, Clark recounted her first March Madness experience, and it involved a lackluster start to her day, to say the least. The breakfast was far from sufficient, and then-coach Lisa Bulder had to run to a nearby Denny's to get her squad a breakfast that was at least serviceable.
The former Iowa Hawkeye gave some insight into the team's lackluster breakfast situation during the 2021 Women's NCAA Tournament.

Caitlin Clark says NCAA served her hot dogs for breakfast during 2021 NCAA Tournament
During Wednesday's episode of Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston, the two brought on Clark as their podcast's special guest. The trio talked about a variety of topics, one of them being the food situation while playing at the 2020-21 Women's NCAA Tournament in San Antonio, Clark's first experience playing in March Madness.
One morning at 8 a.m., the former Iowa Hawkeye revealed that hot dogs wrapped in tin foil were on the other side of her door early one morning at La Quinta. Here is Clark discussing the incident with Parker and Boston.

"They served us hot dogs for breakfast one morning," Clark said. "The NCAA served us hot dogs for breakfast."
Clark recounted, saying there was a tin foil plate with hot dogs in a bun outside of her door, which is far from a nutritious breakfast, especially before a win-or-go-home NCAA Tournament game. The guard later revealed that Iowa's coach ran to a nearby Denny's to gather "anything that's edible."
The bubble period in sports was certainly a surreal experience for fans, but it also brought forth new encounters for the players as well.

Who did Iowa play in San Antonio during 2021 NCAA Tournament
During the 2020-21 Women's NCAA Tournament, the team played its games in the city of San Antonio as their "bubble" site. They played two teams before falling to No. 1 UConn in the Sweet 16.
In the Round of 64, Clark's No. 5 Iowa team faced off against No. 12 Central Michigan Chippewas. The Hawkeyes were victorious 87-72 at the Alamodome. The future Fever star was one of three players to finish with 23 points, and she also led all players with seven assists.
After their first round, Clark and her squad faced off against the No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats in the Round of 32. As a freshman at the time, Clark again led all scorers, this time with 35 points and six assists. Iowa moved on to the Sweet 16 thanks to an 86-72 victory at Bill Greehey Arena.
Clark's freshman season ended at the foot of the No. 1 UConn Huskies at the Alamodome. In a star-studded game that featured future WNBA talent (Clark, Paige Bueckers, Aaliyah Edwards, Kate Martin, and Olivia Nelson-Ododa), the Hawkeyes were routed 92-72.
