Regular service of Amrit Bharat Express between New Jalpaiguri and Amritsar introduced

Indian Railways has introduced the regular service of the Amrit Bharat Express train between Amritsar and New Jalpaiguri, providing enhanced connectivity between North India and North Bengal. The Amrit Bharat Express Train (Amritsar–New Jalpaiguri) from Amritsar Junction has been flagged off today by Shri Ravneet Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries from Amritsar station. Train no. 14664/14663 (Amritsar – New Jalpaiguri – Amritsar will run on weekly basis departing every Thursday from Amritsar and every Saturday from New Jalpaiguri. The introduction of this regular weekly service is expected to significantly benefit passengers travelling between Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal by improving rail connectivity and providing a convenient travel option.

Train no. 14664 will depart from Amritsar every Thursday at 12:45 hrs w.e.f from 14th May, 2026 and will reach New Jalpaiguri at 04:15 hrs on every Saturday. In the return direction, train no. 14663 will depart from New Jalpaiguri every Saturday at 08:00 hrs w.e.f from 16th May, 2026 and to arrive at Amritsar at 02:20 hrs on every Monday.
During its journey in both directions, the train will halt at Siliguri Junction, Bagdogra, Arariya, Raghopur, Sakri Junction, Raxaul Junction, Narkatiaganj Junction, Gorakhpur, Barhni, Gonda Junction, Sitapur Junction, Bareilly, Saharanpur Junction and Ludhiana Junction apart from other stations. The Amrit Bharat Express will consist of 22 coaches, offering comfortable and affordable travel facilities to passengers. The train will pass through the newly constructed Araria – Galgalia route providing rail connectivity for a vast section of population for North Bengal and Bihar.
The train is also expected to strengthen trade, tourism and cultural exchange among the states along its route, thereby contributing to regional economic growth and development. Enhanced rail connectivity between North India and eastern parts of the country will facilitate easier movement of people, agricultural produce, commercial goods and small businesses, further boosting economic activities across the connected regions.
