Jake Paul is either done with boxing for good, or he’s gearing up to take on one of the biggest names in the sport’s recent history.

Paul hasn’t been back in the ring since suffering a broken jaw last December in his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua. It’s been half a year, and he still hasn’t returned to sparring, waiting on word about whether he’ll ever fight again.

But if doctors clear him, Paul isn’t looking for a slow build back. He’s already hinted at a return and has even mentioned Canelo Alvarez as a possible opponent once again.

Even as Jake Paul was questioning whether he’d ever fight again, he managed to drop a hint about what would be the biggest bout of his career. The cruiserweight, who once held a WBA ranking, mentioned in the same interview that talks with Canelo Alvarez had picked up again after their original plans fell through last year.

The two were close to finalising a deal for an unexpected Las Vegas showdown over Cinco De Mayo weekend. But those plans were scrapped when Turki Alalshikh stepped in with a multi-fight offer that included a matchup against Terence Crawford.

But after Alvarez’s defeat to Crawford and how vulnerable he looked during the fight, facing Paul doesn’t seem quite as far-fetched anymore. In a video posted by his media company Betr, Paul made his intentions clear and shared some behind-the-scenes moments from their discussions.

“$200 million dollars for you,” Paul says at one point in the video. “This is the biggest fight that can be made in boxing. Canelo said he’s down on the phone.”
