Gunpoint robbery nets $500Gs in jewelry near Rogers Centre

Four bandits are sought for taking more than half a million dollars in jewelry from the occupants of a vehicle near the Rogers Centre early Sunday at gunpoint.

Toronto Police say officers responded to the robbery near Spadina Ave. and Bremner Blvd. – south of Front St. W. – around 4:50 a.m.

“It is reported that four masked males approached the victims who were parked in a vehicle,” police said in a statement released Wednesday.

“The males held the victims at gunpoint,” police explained. “They then stole over $500,000 worth of jewelry from the victims and fled the scene in a vehicle.

One victim suffered minor injuries.

Victims weren’t Jays players

Police told the Sun that the victims are not Toronto Blue Jays players, but no further details were immediately released about them or the expensive jewelry that was stolen.

Investigators have released video and images of the unidentified masked crooks, captured by a nearby security camera, hoping members of the public will recognize them and come forward.

Police say the bandits were dressed in dark clothing and hoodies, and they were wearing face masks.

The gun-toting thieves drove off in a blue Nissan Rogue with stolen licence plates.
