Caitlin Clark Meets Kelsey Plum: LA Sparks Host Fever in Star-Studded Home Matchup

· Yahoo Sports

The Los Angeles Sparks are looking to get their first win of the season Wednesday night, but they’ll have to do it against some of the WNBA’s brightest stars.

Three days after the Sparks dropped their first game of the season to the star-studded Las Vegas Aces, they’ll face off against the Indiana Fever, who feature former first overall draft pick Caitlin Clark and 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) reacts Saturday, May 9, 2026, after losing the Fever’s season opener game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Dallas Wings defeated the Indiana Fever, 107-104.

The Fever also lost their first game of the year, creating what the Sparks called a “clash of the high-powered and the hungry.”

Who’s starring for the Sparks?

The Sparks are led by Kelsey Plum in her second season in LA, the recently acquired Nneka Ogwumike, Dearica Hamby and Cameron Brink.

Plum is coming off a season in which averaged 19.5 points per game and had career highs in per-game steals, assists and rebounds.

The new addition Ogwumike could elevate the team to an even higher level.

“In 2025 for the Storm, Ogwumike was an All-Star, All-WNBA Second Team selection and finished sixth in MVP voting,” the team said. “Madame President sits near the top of many key statistical categories as one of the most accomplished WNBA players of all-time.”

The team will look to gel this season and turn around a recent history of missing the playoffs.

In fact, despite taking a big step forward last year, it marked five straight years the Sparks missed the postseason.

Not since 2020 has LA been in the playoffs, and despite having the third overall seed that season, they were eliminated by the Connecticut Sun.

This season, though, the expectations are much higher.

“We assembled this team to put ourselves in a position that would commit to the process and has the capacity to go win a championship,” Sparks general manager Raegan Pebley told reporters at Media Day, as reported by The IX Sports. “What I love about this group is we have a lot of people who have won a championship, who know what it takes to win.”

How can I watch the Sparks vs. Fever game?

The game at Crypto.com Arena is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. PT.

It will be televised on the USA Network.
