After LSU baseball was swept by Georgia, LSU's NCAA Tournament hopes are fading. It marked the fourth time LSU was swept in the last five weeks. Now, LSU is 30-23 overall and 9-18 in conference play. The Tigers' RPI ranks No. 57 nationally.

Does LSU have any shot to make the NCAA Tournament? It's unlikely.
LSU's RPI is far from where it needs to be for an at-large bid. LSU would need its RPI to be approaching 40 or be inside the top-40 to even be in the discussion. LSU doesn't have enough quadrant one wins, and the Tigers have too many quadrant four losses. LSU had a chance to bolster its resume at Georgia, but the Tigers were uncompetitive vs. a quality SEC team. LSU hasn't been up to the task vs. good SEC teams all year.
There's a path for LSU to play postseason baseball, but it's narrow. LSU would have to sweep Florida this weekend. The Gators rank No. 11 in RPI, and if LSU were to pull off the sweep, the Tigers' RPI would skyrocket. But the reality for anyone who has watched LSU play in recent weeks is that a sweep is unrealistic.
LSU does not have a win over an SEC team with a winning record in conference play all year. The odds that LSU finally figured out how to compete with good SEC teams now are low. And even if LSU did go 3-0 vs. Florida, LSU would likely need to win a game in the SEC Tournament, too. Never say never, but LSU is likely going home after its done in Hoover.
