The Los Angeles Angels are, once again, heading towards the bottom of the league in terms of win-loss record. It's not a surprise, as they aren't a serious postseason contender right now.
But, with this poor record comes the possibility of trades at the deadline. And while some players could be on the move, like Jorge Soler, there is plenty of attention on Jose Soriano and Mike Trout. Trout isn't going anywhere, but what about Soriano?
According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, the Angels' breakout starting pitcher is also not expected to go anywhere at this year's deadline. But why? Bowden revealed one reason, and it will not be changed anytime soon.
Why Angels likely won't trade Jose Soriano
"I also did not include Jose Soriano because the Angels have three more years of control for him," Bowden writes, "And if GM Perry Minasian didn't trade Shohei Ohtani with only two months of control remaining, he's certainly not going to trade the ace he's finally developed with three years of team control."
While the Angels likely could get back a massive haul from a contender in need of starting pitching for Soriano, the Angels aren't likely to deal the starting pitcher for the obvious reason of years of control.
Soriano, the 24-year-old righty who's turned into an ace this season, is under club control through the 2028 season. He's also very cheap.

There's little reason to move on from Soriano this year, as the 2.3 bWAR, 1.74 ERA starter is someone who shouldn't be off the Angels roster for a few more years.
Of course, if a team comes along and offers something ridiculous that's hard to refuse, then things could change, as is the case with every player.
But, barring such an unrealistic offer coming across Minasian's table, Soriano looks likely to stay in Los Angeles with the Angels for now.
Soriano might be drawing trade intrigue from teams around baseball, but the Angels likely aren't going to trade him this year with his years of control.
