The Dallas Cowboys have clearly been focused on improving their defense this offseason.

And there's no question that they've added a lot of players. The question now will be whether they're actually good enough.
ESPN's Aaron Schatz wonders about that in a new article on Thursday, writing that the Cowboys still have a major question mark at edge rusher after a lot of their offseason moves.
"The Cowboys have a surprisingly solid two-deep across their depth chart," Schatz writes. "Edge rusher is a position that isn't a hole, per se, but definitely has questions."
The thing about it -- Schatz then names six guys who could contribute as pass rushers for Dallas.
The problem is that none of them have a straightforward route to being a standout player. They all have at least a bit of a reason for doubt.
"Rashan Gary, acquired from Green Bay, didn't have a sack in the final 10 games of last season," Schatz writes. "Donovan Ezeiruaku is coming off hip surgery and has been limited in the offseason. Sam Williams had just one sack in 2025. James Houston had 5.5 sacks but couldn't play against the run. Marist Liufau is moving to the edge but hasn't played the position before. And first-rounder Malachi Lawrence is a promising rookie, but he's still a rookie."

That's a few players who had rough 2025 seasons, a couple guys who have limitations or aren't yet proven, and a rookie.
No matter whether Dallas makes more additions in this spot or not, the edge rusher spots will be X-factors in the season ahead. If any of these guys can come through, it could push the Cowboys back toward the playoffs. If not, their defense might still be lacking.
