CBS Sports: Illinois to play UConn again in college basketball

Illinois men's basketball is heading to the Windy City.
The Fighting Illini will take on UConn at the United Center in Chicago, according to CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein. This game at the United Center on Friday, Dec. 4 is a rematch from the 2026 Final Four. The Huskies won 71-62 en route to a national runner-up finish.

Illinois also played the Huskies last season at Madison Square Garden, losing 74-61 on Nov. 28. This will be the fourth neutral site meeting between the Power 4 teams since 2023-24 and seventh overall matchup. UConn leads the series, 5-1.
The Illini finished 28-9 overall and finished ranked No. 5 in the final USA TODAY Coaches Poll. Illinois is slated to return David Mirkovic, Tomislav Ivisic, Jake Davis, Zbonimir Ivisic and potentially Andrej Stojakovic, who entered the NBA draft, but is keeping his college eligibility.
