Ronda Rousey is prepared to set her emotions aside when she steps into the cage on May 16.

Rousey’s return will come against Gina Carano, whose pioneering role in women’s MMA played a part in inspiring Rousey to pursue a career in combat sports after her judo days.

Even with that respect, there won’t be any hesitation once the fight begins. Rousey has made it clear she plans to approach this match with the same intensity as any other.

It’s clear that Rousey is walking into this fight with a lot of respect for Carano, but she’s made it clear she won’t be letting any feelings get in the way once the cage door shuts.

“The amazing thing about fights is when they close that cage door, all of the rules of society go away,” the 39-year-old told TMZ Sports. “It drives me crazy when the bell rings, and people come out and do a high five.

“F— high fives. Once they close the door, I’m going to do everything in my power to kill that chick with my bare hands, and it is up to that referee to stop me.

“If anything, I want to show her the monster that she created… I want her to see, like, ‘Wow, I had no idea that what I started was going to create something like this.’

“I want to show her what I am capable of, whoop her a– and make her proud of me.”

Is May 16th Rousey’s last fight?

Ronda Rousey has made it clear that after her fight with Gina Carano, she plans to step away from the sport for good.

The only thing that might keep her around is if there’s enough demand for a rematch. Otherwise, she’s looking forward to spending more time with her family.

“What I love more than this feeling and this training camp and this whole experience is having babies,” Rousey added.

“I just love my family. My last baby girl, I looked at her, and I was like, ‘I can’t let this be my last one’.

“It just can’t be the last time I experienced this. Look how beautiful she is. I was like, ‘Man, this can’t even be my last girl.’

“Yeah, we want to try for at least two more, and I always wanted a really big family, and I’m in a really fortunate position where I can afford a big family.”
