The first three rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft have not gone as fans may have expected, but there was a clear emphasis on one side of the ball: defense. Four of their first five selections through the first two days have been on the defensive side of the ball, but only one selection in the secondary.

Let’s take a look at the selections the Minnesota Vikings made through day two of the draft:

  • Round one, pick 18: Caleb Banks, DT, Florida
  • Round two, pick 51: LB Jake Golday, LB, Cincinnati
  • Round three, pick 82: Domonique Orange, DT, Iowa State
  • Round three, pick 97: Caleb Tiernan, OT, Northwestern
  • Round three, pick 98: Jakobe Thomas, S, Miami

The Vikings traded back from 49 to 51 and acquired the 98th pick from the Philadelphia Eagles for outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard. Many believed that by this point in the draft, a running back would have been added to the draft class.

While there are still quality names out there, they do not pick for another 59 picks today, so if they really like one prospect, the chances that they will need to move up to acquire him might be high.
