The Boston Red Sox have a logjam in the outfield and not enough playing time to go around.

It's a problem that they had to navigate last season, too. Right fielder Wilyer Abreu is hitting far too well for manager Alex Cora to consider taking at-bats away from him.

Elsewhere, Jarren Duran is off to a slow start at the plate. In 58 trips to the plate, the 2024 All-Star Game MVP owns a .196/.293/.314 slash line with one home run and a .607 OPS. The speedster is 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.

FanSided's Christopher Kline points to Duran's two years of club control as a selling point for Boston to navigate a trade.

"Still, we know what the 29-year-old lefty is capable of. Duran's blend of power and speed is a rare commodity and should mean Boston can flip him for solid value, especially with two additional years of club control left on his contract," Kline wrote Tuesday.

One National League club that could use help in its lineup is the Cincinnati Reds. Even with Elly De La Cruz, Eugenio Suarez, and a breakout from Sal Stewart, they may be missing one more bat.

"In Cincinnati, meanwhile, the Reds are a half-game behind Pittsburgh in the NL Central. The rotation, even in its current compromised state, looks strong enough for another Wild Card push," Kline added. "If Cincinnati can add more firepower to its lineup, Terry Francona's squad will be cooking with gas."

As a fan favorite, it would be hard for Red Sox fans to see Duran go elsewhere. However, with Duran's two years of club control and potential, the organization could get a solid return.
