Tiger Woods car crash details
Woods was involved in a two-car collision that resulted in his vehicle, a Range Rover, ending up overturned. The wreck took place a little after 2 p.m. ET in Jupiter Island, a sleepy suburb located in Martin County, Fla.
An investigation into the crash found that a pickup truck was attempting to make a turn along Beach Road, slowing while driving towards the bend. The driver of the pickup truck, noticing Woods' Range Rover moving at high speed, attempted to steer to the side of road. Beach Road is a narrow two-lane thoroughfare, meaning the driver was unable to clear Woods' car. He clipped the back end of the trailer, sending the car spinning onto its driver side window.
Woods crawled to the passenger side of the car to escape the wreckage. He was said to be lethargic on the scene, with officers believing he displayed signs of being impaired. Woods underwent a series of roadside tests before being charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He blew a 0.00 on the breathalyzer but declined refused a urinalysis test while in jail.
No injuries were reported on the scene following the wreck. Woods was placed in jail for eight hours as is customary in the state of Florida. He was formally charged with two misdemeanors: one count of DUI with property damage and one count of refusal to submit to a lawful test.
What is Tiger Woods charged with?
Woods was arrested following the wreck. He was summarily charged with two misdemeanor -- one count of DUI with property damage and one count of refusal to submit to a lawful test. He will remain in custody for at least eight hours
Woods is charged with two misdemeanors: one count of driving under the influence with property. He will remain in custody for at least eight hours, Martin County Sheriff's Office announced.
Was Tiger Woods drunk?
Woods passed his breathalyzer test, blowing a 0.00. He showed signs of impairment, although those don't appear to be related to any alcohol consumption.
What was Tiger Woods under the influence of?
The substance Woods reportedly ingested is unknown. He refused to take a urine test, opting to be "cooperative but not trying to incriminate himself", according to Martin County Sheriff's Office.
Woods was summarily charged with refusal to submit to a lawful test. He isn't obligated to submit a urine test, so, unless Woods self-reports the substance, the public won't be made aware of what he ingested.
Is Tiger Woods in jail?
Woods is, in fact, in jail. He'll remain in jail for at least the next few hours -- Florida law requires that those arrested for DUI remain in jail for eight hours. The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. ET. That would leave Woods in jail until at least 10:00 p.m. ET, although it's unclear quite when he was booked.

Was Tiger Woods injured?
Neither Woods nor the driver of the other vehicle were injured in the collision. Martin County Sheriff's Office said that was a fortunate result; had someone else been in the opposite lane, things could've taken a more tragic turn.
“Had there been somebody moving in the opposite direction, we would not be having a conversation saying there was no injuries,” Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said. “This could have been a lot worse.”

No one was injured in the wreck that collected Woods' vehicle.
Tiger Woods history of motor vehicle incidents
Woods has a checkered history with driving violations. In 2009, he was cited for careless driving after crashing an SUV into a fire hydrant and tree outside his then-home in Windermere.
Eight years later, Woods pled guilty to reckless driving following a May 2017 DUI arrest after officers found him asleep behind the wheel of a park vehicle in Jupiter.
Woods most recently garnered headlines in Feb. 2021, suffering severe injuries to his legs and ankle after being involved in a single-car rollover collision. Authorities found no evidence that Woods was under the influence of any substance. Authorities extricated him from his vehicle with the "jaws of life", with Woods suffering a trio of "trauma level injuries" -- he fractured the upper and lower portion of his fibula and tibia and suffered a shattered ankle as a result of the wreck. Woods underwent surgery to repair his injuries, missing 10 months of action before returning to the links.
Then Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told the Los Angeles Times that Woods was "lucky to be alive" following his 2021 car crash.
