After suffering one of their most disappointing losses of the 2025-26 campaign against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night, the Boston Celtics responded with one of their best wins of the year, as they handed the top team in the league, the Oklahoma City Thunder, a 119-109 defeat.

Jaylen Brown went toe-to-toe with leading MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in this one, with the latter coming up short this time around. While this loss was by no means Gilgeous-Alexander's fault (33 PTS, 8 AST, 2 REB, 10/12 FGM), he expressed disappointment in the Thunder's inability to take down a top-tier C's squad.

"Every time you play the Boston Celtics, you get a playoff feel. No matter what day it is. No matter who’s out there." Gilgeous-Alexander admitted after the game. "They’re super well-coached. They have really good players ... It’s a game that you see where you really are, and they test you. We got a test tonight; we didn’t pass it."

For much of the year, Boston has been a wolf in sheep's clothing. With Jayson Tatum back now, though, teams are beginning to see just how dangerous the Celtics can be. With Brown continuing to play at an extremely high level (31 PTS, 8 REB, 8 AST, 9/17 FGM), the sky's the limit for this team.

Beating Oklahoma City is big in its own right, but with the New York Knicks breathing right down the C's neck in the Eastern Conference standings, that makes this victory even more important. Boston will face another tough test when it returns to action, as it will square off against a red-hot Atlanta Hawks team on Friday night.
