Head coach Kim Mulkey subbed Johnson out midway through the fourth quarter and the crowd rose to its feet, applauding the senior guard. Johnson got emotional as she embraced Mulkey and each of her teammates.

"I knew I was going to lose it, but I was holding strong," Johnson said. "And then my teammates came and hugged me, and then it was like a roar that I heard in the PMAC."

Johnson scored at will against the Red Raiders, often in transition and through traffic at the rim. She shot nine of 13 from the field, knocking down two triples and grabbing four rebounds.

"I gave everything I had and just let everything out," Johnson said. "It was the most beautiful thing that I've been a part of, something I'll remember forever. [I'm] just so thankful for the fans, thankful for Coach Mulkey, the whole program. It's just been, this has been unimaginable."

Johnson was the first McDonald's All-American signed by Mulkey at LSU. She started from the second she arrived on campus, winning SEC freshman of the year in 2023 and helping the Tigers win the program's first national title.

"I learned so much from Coach Mulkey," Johnson said. "She really molded me into the player I am today, honestly. Me from my freshman year until now, my mental, that's a testament to Coach Mulkey. I told her, 'coach me hard, coach us hard.' I feel like everybody kind of bought in and this is the result you get."
