Recap

2nd Inning

Ashtyn Danley and Cal’s Kiki Mashhoud both had baserunners in the first inning, and both had a scoreless frame. In the next inning, Danley had a pair on base, but still prevented any scoring. In the bottom of the 2nd, Makenna Sturgis walked, followed by Marin Heller’s first career homerun.

Now with the lead, Hayley Griggs and Isa Torres reached with one out. Jaysoni Beachum drove in one of those runners, making it 3-0. Following the third run, Shelby McKenzie’s sacrifice fly made it 4-0 before the end of the inning.

3rd Inning

Cal continued to get on base against Danley, and started with a lead off double. A walk and two strikeouts had Danley in trouble, and the second double of the inning made it 4-1. A hit by pitch loaded the bases, and took Danley out of the circle. In relief, Makenna Reid got the pop up to escape the jam.

Kennedy Harp began with a lead off triple off of new pitcher, Mya McGowan. McGowan added Anna Hinde on a walk, putting runners on the corners. A sacrifice fly got the run back, and McGowan added more Seminoles on base, but only allowed the lone run.

4th Inning

A one out single from McKenzie got this started in the 4th, and a walk from McGowan to Danley had two on for FSU. Both advanced on a passed ball, and a single from Harp drove in one. Following Harp, Hinde extended the lead with a 3 run homerun.

Tamya Waiters came out of the bullpen for the Bears, facing the middle part of the lineup. She got the out before walking Heller, and giving up a double to Griggs. However, she stranded both runners.

5th Inning

Bella Dimitrijevic entered in the 5th, looking to secure the last three outs. The freshman kept Cal off the bases, giving her team three outs and a 9-1 win.
