And with that, Orton set himself up for yet another in what has been a long career of Wrestlemania moments. Many of these moments are common knowledge, such as at Wrestlemania 21 in 2005, when Orton not only challenged The Undertaker but became the first to explicitly challenge The Undertaker’s undefeated Wrestlemania record. Other moments, however, are not so well known.

Below are five lesser-known facts about Randy Orton and his history at WrestleMania that many fans don’t realize:

His First WrestleMania Match Was A Tag Match

Orton’s WrestleMania debut came at WrestleMania XX (2004) when he teamed with Ric Flair and Batista as members of Evolution. They defeated The Rock and Mick Foley in a match designed to elevate the younger stars in Evolution.

Orton Has Faced Three Generations Of Wrestlers At Wrestlemania

Across his WrestleMania career, Orton has wrestled legends from three different wrestling generations. For example:

  • Seth Rollins (modern era)

That’s a rare span for a single performer.

His Father Interfered In His WrestleMania Match

At WrestleMania 21, Orton’s father, Bob Orton Jr., actually interfered in his match against The Undertaker, trying to help Randy break Undertaker’s undefeated streak. Needless to say, he was unsuccessful.

He Once Competed For Two World Titles In One WrestleMania Match

At WrestleMania XXX (2014), Orton defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which had been created by unifying the WWE and World Heavyweight titles. That meant two historic championships were technically on the line in one match against Daniel Bryan and Batista.

Orton Has One Of the Most Viral WrestleMania Moves Ever

At WrestleMania 31, Orton delivered a mid-air RKO to Seth Rollins after Rollins jumped for a curb stomp. The move became one of the most replayed WrestleMania highlights ever and is often ranked among the greatest RKOs of all time.
