Pasquantino, who became the first player to ever have three home runs during a game in the World Baseball Classic, also embraced his team tradition. With each home run, he enjoyed an espresso shot in the dugout. That means after three espresso shots, he was feeling especially energetic.

After the game, he told FS1's Jon Morosi that he was "beamed up" following the 9-1 victory over Mexico. He called the performance unbelievable.

The victory earned Team Italy a spot past pool play and in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

But it also clinched an advancement for Team USA, who narrowly avoided a humiliated elimination following a coaching blunder.

Pasquantino said "you're welcome" to Team USA and that he and his teammates were thinking about them at the hotel.

He said that he is glad Team USA could join Team Italy in the "party" of the quarterfinals, which was especially funny considering that one team was a heavy favorite and the other was a massive underdog not expected to advance.
