Bam Adebayo idolized Kobe Bryant growing up. Now he sits alongside him in history.

The Miami Heat big exploded for 83 points Tuesday night against the Washington Wizards, surpassing Bryant for the second-highest scoring game in NBA history. Bryant previously held second place for his 81-point outburst against Jalen Rose and the Toronto Raptors in 2006.
It took a whopping 36 free throw makes and 43 free throw attempts for Adebayo, both NBA records. That element drew praise from some, including Kevin Durant, who applauded his stamina. It also led to some detractors, chief among them Houston Rockets coach Ime Udoka.
"I saw he only made [seven] 3s but 40 free throws or something like that -- tells the story right there," Udoka said, per ESPN. "And the Washington Wizards."
While the arguments over how Adebayo got to 83 will persist, the fact is he did get there. And to celebrate, he recreated the iconic Wilt Chamberlain photo. Chamberlain, of course, owns the NBA's single-game scoring record with 100 (!) points.
