This offseason, the Seattle Seahawks will have some very difficult decisions to make. While they could land some top-tier players with all of their cap space, nearly $60 million, the looming deals for Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Devon Witherspoon are a big deal.

Seattle cannot splurge too much this offseason, as those contracts are going to be huge restrictors for how much money the team can spend. Those big deals are partially why there's presently a gap in talks with a few key free agents.

Of the outgoing free agents, All-Pro wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed is one of the more interesting free agents for Seattle. While there's a gap in talks, ESPN's Ben Solak is predicting that the two sides get a deal done this offseason before free agency.

Seahawks predicted to re-sign Rashid Shaheed

"I'd bet the Seahawks get something done with Shaheed, for whom they just traded at last season's deadline (so there's some sunk cost there), and (Coby) Bryant as free agency starts," Solak predicts.

Re-signing Shaheed won't be cheap. There have been rumors about a $15-$20 million per-year deal for the speedy All-Pro.

While Shaheed didn't actually do much for the Seahawks as a receiver last year, catching 15 of 26 passes for 188 yards for no touchdowns, and running seven times for 67 yards, his impact was still monumental for Seattle.

He played in nine regular-season games and three playoff games. Over those 12 games, Shaheed had three return touchdowns. He had one punt and one kickoff return touchdown in the regular season.

And then in the playoffs, on the Seahawks' first play of their eventual Super Bowl run, Shaheed returned the opening kickoff against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional round for a touchdown.

That home-run ability is why Shaheed is someone the Seahawks would surely love to have back. It won't be easy, but Solak is predicting that between now and the new league year beginning on Wednesday, March 11th, the Seahawks will work out a deal with Shaheed.
