Cooper Walls got the start for the Gators and cruised through two frames, allowing a hit while striking out just one of the seven batters he faced to earn the win. The combination of Russell Sandefer and Schuyler Sandford, who bridged the middle five innings, allowing just three hits while striking out eight, set the table for Jackson Barberi's two-inning no-hit, one-walk and two-strikeout effort to close things out — though he was not eligible for a save.

At the plate, Florida was paced by its leadoff hitter Kyle Jones and his two-hit evening, getting on base to start the game — as he is wont to — and scoring the first run of the night. But the highlight was Brendan Lawson's solo shot to center in the third inning; the two were responsible for half of the team's offensive output.

The other two runs crossed in the fourth, when Blake Cyr scored on a throwing error by the catcher while stealing third, and Cole Stanford followed him home on a groundout for an unearned run. The final line for the Orange and Blue: nine hits, four runs, three walks and 12 strikeouts, along with three stolen bases and two hit batters; nine runners were left on base.

Next up for the Gators are the Florida A&M Rattlers, who will be in Gainesville on Wednesday night for another single-game midweek matchup. That game will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the SEC Network+.
