BREAKING: Six killed in Ormonde building collapse

Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) has confirmed that six people have died after a building collapsed in Ormonde, south of Johannesburg.

The incident happened on Monday afternoon, 2 March.
FATALITIES REPORTED DURING ORMONDE BUILDING COLLAPSE
Speaking to journalists at the scene, Joburg EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo said 12 people were inside the building, six died, one has been rescued, two are still trapped and others are still unaccounted for.
Khumalo said they do not know as yet what the building was used for.
“The building is not stable; some parts are caving in. We’re being very cautious to ensure that the rescue teams inside the building do not get caught up in another collapse.”

BUILDING HAD MUNICIPAL APPROVAL
Meanwhile, Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety, Mgcini Tshwaku, said the building had municipal approval.
