Boston Celtics fans initially hoped that Jayson Tatum would return on March 1, but the Celtics played Sunday night against the Philadelphia 76ers still without Tatum.

His return does appear to be coming soon, though.

Noted Celtics superfan and basketball analyst Bill Simmons provided his take on a late-night recording of his podcast Sunday after Boston's win.

“Tatum, it feels like it’s gonna be Friday vs Dallas. All signs are pointing to Friday, Dallas," Simmons said.

While it's just some more speculation, Simmons is a lot more likely to have some kind of insight here than just a casual fan.

If that's Tatum's return date, it would mean he'd miss two more games first.

The Celtics play at the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night as the second game of a back-to-back.

They then host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.

The Mavs visit Boston on Friday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

Boston is 40-20 entering Monday night's game, so Tatum's absence hasn't crushed their season in the way some expected.

He tore his Achilles in the first round of last season's playoffs, and the speculation began pretty quickly about how fast he'd be back.

In reality, sometime in March always seemed like the first realistic window. March is here, and the Celtics seem likely to get their superstar back sooner rather than later.
