Oklahoma hits 7 home runs, beat Alabama State 23-3

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up from where they left off from their 13-3 win over Sam Houston State to put together another dominating performance in the second leg of the Friday doubleheader. Oklahoma beat Alabama State 23-3 in the nightcap.

The Sooners hit seven home runs, sparked by a pair of bombs from Tia Milloy and Lexi McDaniel. Milloy's grand slam in the bottom of the first followed a two-run homer from Sydney Barker to put six runs on the board in the first inning.

After a scoreless second, Isabela Emerling and McDaniel went back-to-back to open the scoring in a nine-run third inning. Later in the frame, McDaniel hit her second home run of the game and third of the day.

Coweta, Oklahoma native Chaney Helton hit her third home run of the season and second of the weekend as part of an eight-run fourth inning for the Sooners.

Six different Sooners recorded multiple hits, led by McDaniel's 4-for-4 day from the plate. In addition to her pair of home runs, she drove in three and scored four times in the win. Ailana Agbayani also reached base four times, going 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, a double, an RBI, and three runs scored.

Tia Milloy capped off the scoring for the Sooners with her second home run of the day, a two-run shot. She finished the day 2-for-3 with two home runs, six RBIs, a walk, and three runs scored.

In their three games to open Love's Field, the Oklahoma Sooners are averaging over 22 runs per game. They've recorded 16 home runs and 14 doubles over the weekend.

From the circle, Miali Guachino threw three innings and allowed one run on one hit, on a solo home run, a walk, and struck out five Hornets to improve to 5-0 on the season. Sydney Berzon threw a scoreless inning in relief, giving her 1.2 scoreless innings pitched on Friday.

The Oklahoma Sooners improved to 16-2 on the season and return to the field to face Sam Houston State and Alabama State once again on Saturday. The Sooners will take on the Bearcats at 2 p.m. followed by a 5:30 p.m. CT start for their finale against the Hornets.
