The Boston Celtics may have dealt away several players ahead of the trade deadline this season, but they are still on a roll, having won nine of their past 11 games. There's still a chance for them to reinforce their roster through free agency or the buyout market ahead of their upcoming postseason run, but that's looking increasingly unlikely to happen.

One guy who made sense as a potential target for the C's was point guard Lonzo Ball after he got waived by the Utah Jazz in the wake of being picked up in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. While Ball has suited up for 35 games this season, teams are reportedly concerned about his medical records, and according to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, his playing days in the NBA may be over.
“There are concerns among many league personnel that (Ball) may not play again over concerns with his medical records," Siegel wrote. "Ball will continue to work on strengthening his game and health as he waits for another opportunity. Should he remain unsigned through the remainder of this season and want to continue his playing career, Lonzo may be forced to do so overseas.”
Injuries have largely derailed Ball's once-promising career, as the former No. 2 overall pick has struggled to stay on the court in recent seasons. After missing the entire 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns, Ball has mamaged to play 70 total games over the past two years, but he has looked like a shell of the player he once was.
Simply put, Boston has a good thing going with its current crop of players. With a return for Jayson Tatum seeming inevitable, they don't really have to worry about bringing anyone else to town for the time being. The Celtics will return to TD Garden on Friday night for a clash against the Brooklyn Nets, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
