Chiefs could address WR concerns after meeting with Ohio State prospect
· Yahoo Sports
The Kansas City Chiefs and Andy Reid are heading into the 2026 NFL Draft with the No. 9 pick after a brutal 2025 campaign that saw them finish 6-11. It was not just missing out on the AFC West title. The Chiefs did not even sniff the postseason, and that stings for a franchise used to January football.
This draft cycle is loaded with skill position talent projected to go early, and Kansas City has been linked to one name in particular. Carnell Tate out of the Ohio State Buckeyes is seen as a realistic target if the board shakes out in their favor come April.

“I did speak with the Chiefs,” Tate told reporters. “I had a visit with the Chiefs as well. It was a great meeting as well. We went over my film, see what all I can retain, read a couple coverages.”
“I think it would be a great match with [Patrick] Mahomes to go from one good quarterback to another quarterback at the NFL level. So, I think I could bring all the opportunities to the Chiefs, whether that’s down the field, the contested catch, winning one-on-one situations.”
Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Carnell Tate runs in a touchdown. The receiver position is not getting a ton of attention in Kansas City right now, but it probably should be. Rashee Rice is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and his off-field troubles have raised serious questions about whether he will stick around past 2026.

Xavier Worthy has not developed the way the team hoped, leaving his future role unclear. After those two, the depth chart gets thin in a hurry. Jalen Royals currently sits third.
Tate brings one of the higher ceilings among college football receivers in this class.
Scouts consider him the most NFL-ready wideout available, and for a team hunting for reliable production through the air, he could contribute immediately.
