Kristaps Porzingis reflects on time with Boston Celtics

· Yahoo Sports

When Kristaps Porzingis was suiting up for the Boston Celtics, the look on his face most nights made it quite clear how he felt about where he was playing in the NBA. So it ought to come as little surprise that the Latvian big man had plenty of kind words for his former employer this past Thursday (Feb. 19) night even after they had dealt him away this past offseason to get the team into a more reasonable fiscal orbit after the Achilles tendon injury of star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum.

Ahead of his tilt vs. Boston with his new ball club, the Golden State Warriors, Porzingis shared his views on his time with the Celtics. "It was going to be like championship expectations, obviously, it wasn't going to be like a walk in a park there," said Porzingis.

"So immediately as soon as I signed, I felt the responsibility," he added. "Even me and Al (Horford, who now plays with KP on the Dubs), we talked about it."

"Just being on that stage, playing for such a historic franchise, you feel that pressure," said the Warriors center. "You feel that expectation, and especially how good the team was. We knew we had to get it done."

"Otherwise, it was going to be a fiasco. And, it's something like every player strives to be in that position. And we had the chance, and we did it once. The second year didn't work out perfectly. But, yeah, we had our time there and enjoyed every moment of it – we accomplished the big objective. You know how much I love playing there and then just everything that the organization, front office, playing on TD Garden, the floor, the colors."

"It's an iconic franchise ... (it) will be always forever my memory as a special time," said the former Boston big man.
